Acoustipedia
Acoustics has become a major consideration in the design of new buildings and is often a critical factor in securing planning approvals.

Communicating the effects of noise and vibration to the design team can be difficult using data alone. For the architect too, it can be difficult to express what effect they are seeking to achieve as part of the overall ambience without specialised knowledge of the subject.

Engineering consultancy Hilson Moran has developed a new approach to the presentation of acoustic principles, designed to bring the numbers to life and bridge the knowledge gap. A new RIBA-accredited presentation entitled ‘Acoustipedia’ aims to provide a fun and informative introduction to the fundamentals of sound, using audio demonstrations and practical project examples.

The seminar encompasses key aspects including sound levels, frequency, reverberation and acoustic privacy.

To accompany the course, Hilson Moran’s Acoustic experts have put together a CD-based acoustic encyclopaedia, which offers an interactive reference tool and provides guidelines for planning future projects.

For more information about the new seminar or to book a place, contact Paula Mountifield on 01252 550500.
