Architectural Acoustics
Suitable acoustic design of architectural elements is critical to the perceived quality of a building.

Correct acoustic specification of the external façades is vital for providing levels of internal noise that are commensurate with the use of the building, allowing, for example, good concentration and communication in offices and schools, or relaxation and undisturbed sleep in residences and hotels.

High levels of internal noise can obviously cause a nuisance, but too little noise can provide insufficient masking of noise from other areas.

The appropriate selection of internal structures will ensure good acoustic privacy is achieved between rooms, which, for residential developments and schools, is a Building Regulations requirement

Good speech intelligibility and control of reverberant noise is crucial in most developments, particularly schools and offices, hence the subtle inclusion of effective acoustic treatments in the architectural design is imperative.

Hilson Moran Acoustics provides clear, accurate acoustic advice for all architectural elements of buildings, coordinated at all times with the aesthetic, mechanical and structural requirements.

We frequently use 3D computer modelling, simulations and audio demonstrations to demonstrate the relevant acoustic principles.
